The course is designed to provide law students, legal aspirants, and young professionals with a structured introduction to court proceedings. It covers the procedural, practical, and legal aspects of Criminal Courts, Civil Courts, and High Courts, helping participants understand how cases are initiated, handled, and decided.

The course is divided into three focused modules

A. Criminal Court Proceedings

• FIR, arrest, remand, and bail procedures
• Charge framing, trial stages, evidence recording
• Role of magistrates, prosecutors, and police
• Appeals, revisions, and inherent powers
• Criminal miscellaneous petitions and procedural reforms

Civil Court Proceedings (Covered under Civil Rules of Practice)

• Institution of suits, written statements, and pleadings
• Interim reliefs, injunctions, commissions
• Framing of issues, trial, and evidence recording
• Execution of decrees and post-judgment proceedings

High Court Proceedings

• Jurisdiction (Subject-Matter & Territorial) – Understanding the scope of High Court jurisdiction with reference to Article 226 and relevant statutes.
• Legal Issues Before the High Court – Involvement of substantial questions of law, constitutional interpretation, protection of fundamental rights, statutory conflicts, and policy challenges.
• Filing of Cases & Procedural Requirements – Step-by-step guidance on drafting, filing, and registering cases including writs, appeals, and revisions. .
• Building Effective Legal Grounds – Techniques and strategies for identifying legal issues, framing arguments, and preparing grounds for High Court litigation.
• Classification of Matters – Differentiating between criminal, civil, writ, service, and constitutional matters for effective court practice.
• Stages of Proceedings – An overview of the procedural flow in various types of cases (admission, notice, counter, hearing, final disposal).
• Original and Appellate Jurisdiction – Understanding High Court’s jurisdiction to hear cases directly (original side) and appeals from subordinate courts.
• Writ Petitions & Public Interest Litigation (PIL) – Practical orientation on invoking Article 226 jurisdiction and PIL drafting techniques.
• Criminal & Civil Appeals and Revisions – Procedural rules, time limitations, and strategies for appellate and revisional jurisdiction.
• Reference and Review Mechanisms – When and how courts invoke reference to constitutional benches or review their own decisions.
• Practice Under High Court Rules – Professional conduct, formatting, listing norms, and code of ethics as per the respective High Court Practice Rules.

Duration: 7 Days (Mondayto Sunday) High Court Court

• he National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT), Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT), Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), the National Green Tribunal (NGT), and the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) shall be charged 15,000/-
